Utah Idaho Central Railway Providence Station records, 1918-1919.

Miscellaneous documents including bills of lading, daily abstracts, daily balance sheets, way bills, and memorandum for cash book. Also includes circulars from the United States Railway Administration concerning freight tariffs. These circulars are geographically specific and detail charges on different types of freight i.e. cement, livestock, and canned goods. The last two boxes of the collection contain a variety of working papers from the station. The bulk of the cash book memorandum concern shipments to the Theurer Brothers store in Providence.

In 1973, the United States Congress passed the Rail Reorganization Act, establishing the United States Railway Association (USRA) to develop a plan for a Consolidated Rail Corporation (ConRail), charged with planning and financing the reorganization of bankrupt railroads in the Northeast and Midwest. The Utah-Idaho Central Railroad Company grew from two local railway systems organized by David Eccles. The Ogden Rapid Transit Company (1900) and the Logan Rapid Transit Company (1909) merged in May 1914 to create the Ogden, Logan & Idaho Railway Company. The main line extended from Ogden, Utah to Preston, Idaho and its major business focus was to profit from passenger (rather than freight) transit.
